One cozy afternoon at Bellissimo Ristorante

Bellissimo

It’s a Friday and we left early from work, we decided to have a snack/early dinner along Tomas Morato. We are craving for pasta so an Italian restaurant comes to mind. At the corner of Scout Castor corner Tomas Morato is a sign pointing to Bellissimo Ristorante (a restaurant owned by Cesar Montano), just beside Pen Pen Restaurant. We headed to a pathway that leads to the restaurant, upon opening the door we were greeted by the waitress and lead us to our seats.

The restaurant is cozy with wooden tables and chairs, a homey ambiance for an Italian restaura
nt. We were given the restaurant’s menu, clueless on what to order, I asked the attendant of their house specialty and she said that it’s the Spaghetti alla Pescatore, a tomato-based pasta with seafoods. Our officemates ordered their second specialty which is the Spaghetti Aglio Olio, an olive oil-based pasta with seafoods. While waiting for our food to be served, the attendant suggested to check out Cesar Montano’s paintings at the second floor. They also served our complimentary bread while waiting along with the tomato sauce and pesto at the side. I wished they served it with Parmesan cheese too but it’s okay, the pesto sauce is good!

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Our pastas have arrived and the hungry foodies that we are, we immediately dig into our own pasta dishes. The pasta is perfectly cooked al dente, the sauce is seasoned very well and a generous amount of parmesan cheese on top. Seafoods in the Spaghetti alla Pescatore are mussels, shrimp and squid. I like that the pasta has an ample amount of sauce so that I can truly savor the dish. The Spaghetti Aglio Olio is served with clams and mussels. It has a hint of spiciness because of the chili flakes on it but this dish is really superb. Bellissimo’s pasta dishes are good for two persons
and are priced from Php 200-Php 350. We thought of ordering pizza after the pasta but we decided to make room for dessert. There’s a new dessert place for chocolate lovers along Roces Ave. corner Tomas Morato, just the opposite side of Bellisimo, so that’s where we’re heading and will be the topic of my next post.

New frames from Zenni Optical!

Prescription Wind Goggles from Zenni Optical

I’m totally loving Zenni Optical’s stylish prescription eyeglasses ever since I wrote about them here. I frequently check their site for newest offerings until I found the
Prescription Wind Goggles shown above. My husband and I will be going to Mt. Pinatubo on the last week of November and the glasses will be our perfect companion for the trip. We’ll be riding a 4×4 jeep and we’ll be under the scorching heat of the sun and not to mention all the dust that can irritate our eyes. We all know how damaging the sun’s rays can be to our eyes. Wearing eye protection won’t hurt and our eyes will thank us for that.

So if you’re still scouting for affordable, stylish and functional eyeglasses, go and check out Zenni Optical’s website now. They have a wide range of frames for children, ladies and men alike. You can order for your whole family and enjoy big savings. You can have your own prescription eyeglasses for as low as $8.00. Order online, pay using your credit card and wait the glasses to be delivered at your doorstep. How convenient, right? After being featured at Fox News, they are also creating raves at Clark Howard, check it out here: http://clarkhoward.com/liveweb/shownotes/2007/06/27/12362/.

How to travel comfortably inside a plane with Cebu Pacific’s Seat Selector

Nanay is going to the province on the first week of November and I booked her tickets online. Comparing the prices of Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific, I chose the latter since it’s Php 1,000 cheaper than PAL. Booking online with their interface is a breeze, just prepare your credit card (Visa or Mastercard) as you will use this for paying your tickets. On with the booking process, I entered necessary information until I was redirected to a Seat Selector page. An aircraft illustration that shows what seats are taken, vacant, which ones are near the lavatories and emergency exits are properly labelled. I selected the seat by the window on the second row for Nanay. The Seat Selector is optional but I want Nanay to have a comfortable trip, it’s only an additional Php 100 (Standard Seat) or Php 200 (Premium Seat) to your airfare.

Cebu Pacific’s Seat Selector

The Seat Selector is also a great tool for group of friends and families travelling together. They get to occupy the whole row or all window/aisle seats for all they want. There was this instance when my husband and I were seated rows apart going to Kalibo, Aklan. I have no one to talk to for the hour-long trip and I just listened to my Ipod. I hate travelling alone, moreso, when you’re seated beside a noisy and inconsiderate passenger. Another plain booboo I had was when I requested a window seat only to find out that the only view I can see is the aircraft’s gigantic wings. To visit Cebu Pacific’s FAQ page, click here.

Easy Recipe: Tofu Squares with Teriyaki Sauce

Weekends for me is my time to experiment new things, be it on accessories and cooking. Last Saturday, I though of cooking the Japanese tofu I bought in the grocery. Japanese tofu has a gelatinous texture and smoother than ordinary tofu, or “tokwa” in Filipino. I prefer Japanese tofu than ordinary ones because it has richer taste. This recipe is very easy and housewives can definitely cook this for their husbands.

What you’ll need:

1 pack Japanese Tofu cut into squares (similar cut with chicken nuggets)
Bread Crumbs

1 egg (beaten)

Canola oil (for frying)

Teriyaki Sauce

As I’ve said, this is very easy, first dip the tofu squares into the egg and roll them over the bread crumbs. The bread crumbs will give the crunch to the tofu once cooked. Deep fry the tofu squares until golden brown. Drain excess oils in paper towels. You can pour the Teriyaki Sauce over the tofu squares or put it on the side as a dipping sauce. See, this can’t get any easier than this. You can also use “toyomansi” (soy sauce + calamansi) instead of Teriyaki Sauce as a dipping sauce. Enjoy!

A haircut and threading experience at Acqua Salon, Trinoma

It’s payday and peeps in the office decided to hit the mall and unwind at Giligan’s. While my husband and other officemates are having their fill at Giligan’s, I decided to have some “me”-time and went to the salon instead. It’s been a while since I had my haircut and my hair had grown long just above my waist. I always go to Bench Fix for my haircut but I decided to give a new salon a try, Acqua Salon looks promising based on the reviews from other forums and blogs.
