How to treat a sty (kuliti in Filipino)?

My husband has a sty or what we call “kuliti” on his right eye for a few days now. He’s been complaining that it’s affecting his work especially when facing the computer because of the stingy pain in his eyelids. Earlier, I searched on home remedies for the treatment of sty or sties.

A sty is caused by an infected oil gland at the base of the eyelash. It is not an alarming eye problem since it does not affect the eye and the vision. A simple home remedy is to apply warm compresses to the affected area for 15 minutes. Do this 4 to 5 times a day until the sty heals and disappears. Usually, it will only last for 2-3 days.

Remember to keep your hands clean when touching the affected eye area to avoid further infection. If the sty does not heal after 3 days, it is best to see a doctor. Occasionally, sties may need to be drained and cleaned by a doctor and antibiotics may be prescribed.

Nuffnang Philippines has arrived!

Good news to all bloggers who use their blogs as a money making tool. Nuffnang, Asia’s first blog advertising community, is now available to bloggers in the Philippines. Back then, I was intrigued with Nuffnang everytime I visit Malaysian and Singaporean blogs. The ads are very eye-catching that gravitates me to click them each time. But now Filipino bloggers can enjoy the privilege of having Nuffnang ads in their blogs too. This September, they are looking for 68 bloggers who will join and write an entry about Nuffnang and will be paid Php 500 instantly.

First off, you need to sign up to be eligible to the contest. Sign-up by clicking the Nuffnang ad below:

nuffnang_bid = “95a06b779d56a7e1dfd9d110f52f0197”;

After signing up and activating your account, you must place an ad in your blog for one month. You can choose between 3 ad formats: Leaderboard (728×90), Skyscraper (160×300), or a Large Rectangle (336×280), the one shown above.

Giving Nuffnang a try won’t hurt, right? Besides, it can work together with Google Adsense. You will also have chance to become a member of the Glitterati club if you’re not running any ads from other ad networks from Southeast Asia.

What I love most about Nuffnang is that you’ll get paid in Philippine Peso so say goodbye to other bank conversion charges. You’ll have the option to cash out your earnings if you already earned Php 1,500. Quite doable, so I’m crossing my fingers that this will be more successful and more income generating for me. If this will be the case, I’ll say goodbye to my other blog advertising tool and say hello to Nuffnang!

Melamine found in White Rabbit candies

With the melamine scare spreading around the globe, we should all be wary not just with milk products but also with other milk-based products. In Singapore, the White Rabbit candy was found to be contaminated with melamine. Two other brands, Dutch Lady strawberry-flavoured milk and Yili Choice Dairy Fruit Bar Yoghurt Flavoured Ice Confection, have been found to contain melamine as well. I’m not sure if the two latter candies are available in the Philippines, but White Rabbit is widely sold in groceries and sari-sari stores.

I think the news pertains to the White Rabbit candy from China that’s been in the news in the past because they contained formalin. Geez, China should better clean their act because this “Made in China” scare is not doing any good to the health of people all over the world.

Retail therapy for a hard day’s work

Work has never been this hectic these past few weeks. Our team must meet a very high production target before the year ends, the target is achievable nonetheless if the team will put more time and hardwork. Working even on Saturdays is a bummer, no time for quality R&R and other extra curricular activities. Every year, I can’t seem to enjoy the Christmas season because this is also the time that work becomes hectic. Like my officemates say, we have more spending power because of bigger overtime pay but no time to spend the moolah earned…. (which, come to think of it, is quite healthy for our conjugal savings account)

Jeff and I still have to find time to unwind, so we headed to Trinoma after work. A hearty dinner at A Veneto did the trick for our reward. We had Cream of Tomato Soup, Baked Ziti and New York Style Pizza, yum!

And just like any girl, shopping is always the solution to beat stress! We passed by the Nike and bought this uber cute Nike Free Mary Jane style shoes. The black/pink combo is a winner, and the shoes is definitely my style, perfect for a basic tee-and-jeans person like me.

I’m busy with Plurk!

Wondering what I’ve been up to these days? Well, aside from my day job, an online job, an online shop and lots of polymer clays and tools to fiddle with, I still have my daily dose of social networking updates from cyberspace. Plurking in the office keeps boredom at bay, you can just type anything that pops in your mind and see how your friends react. It is more interactive and fun than Twitter. Emoticons and different themes available makes Plurk an eye-candy too!

Track the unknown caller from your phone

As an online seller, I always get text messages and phone calls from different people interested in my products. But there are some who just likes to play pranks on me and just wasting my time. Or maybe you experienced waking up in the middle of the night from the sound of your phone and you’ll immediately answer it thinking it’s important only to find out that some insomniac person just randomly called your number. Annoying isn’t it?

But now there’s a way to track those pranksters and unknown callers from your phone using CallerBase.com. It’s a reverse phone search database with millions of cell phone and landline numbers within US and Canada. Using the database is as easy as 1-2-3, just type in the phone number you want to track in the search box and voila, you can get the phone number’s owner information such as name, address, city, state, line type, and phone carrier details. You don’t have to go to the police just to report and investigate harassing callers. Now this is something that will ward off annoying prank callers!

CallerBase.com can also be used by business owners and they’ll never miss an important client again. They can use the phone search database to keep track of missed calls from their phones and easily call them back.
