What happened to Google?

As I was doing my routine Internet surfing hours ago, I got alarmed when all of my searches in Google showed the warning: “This site may harm your computer”, in Filipino (“Ang site na ito ay maaaring makasama sa computer mo”). Duh? I checked some of the sites and these are the usual sites I visit but only just now it showed a malware warning. I used Yahoo on my searches and none of the search results showed “This site may harm your computer” warning.

At first, I thought it’s my computer having a virus but it’s a glitch on Google’s part. Apparently, problems occurred on their malware filters, Stopbadware.org being down. Good thing Google is up again! Back to regular surfing!

To jog or to walk?

Original plan was to jog around UP Sunken Garden. First time to jog again after 8 months. 8 months ago, I was going to the gym 2 to 3 times a week but laziness hit me after a few months so I’m back with an inactive lifestyle. Since its January and like any other New Year’s resolutions, I started my resolution to “Move more and exercise” routine by jogging around UP after work. I ended up brisk walking almost 3/4 of the trail. After the first round at the UP Oval, Jeff and I feasted on yummy street foods, quail eggs (tokneneng) and siomai. What a great way to start a healthy and active lifestyle eh? So the question is,to jog or to walk or to eat?

After reading Obama’s letter, I’m an instant Obama fan

While the rest of America loved Barack Obama months ago, it is only now that I became an Obama fan. It’s nothing political, though I noticed that he’s a good-looking and intelligent man too. But one thing that made me love Obama is his letter that Barack Obama wrote to his daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama. Sigh, I miss Papa. I’m a daddy’s little girl and until now, I’m still yearning for more time from my father but things have changed. I guess I’ll settle and just wait for the time when Jeff and our will-be daughter/s will have a daddy-daughter relationship…

Okay, enough for the drama and on to a more tearjerker one… Some excerpts from Parade Magazine who asked President-elect Barack Obama to write a letter to his daughters and what he wants for them:

Dear Malia and Sasha,

I know that you’ve both had a lot of fun these last two years on the campaign trail, going to picnics and parades and state fairs, eating all sorts of junk food your mother and I probably shouldn’t have let you have. But I also know that it hasn’t always been easy for you and Mom, and that as excited as you both are about that new puppy, it doesn’t make up for all the time we’ve been apart. I know how much I’ve missed these past two years, and today I want to tell you a little more about why I decided to take our family on this journey.

When I was a young man, I thought life was all about me-about how I’d make my way in the world, become successful, and get the things I want. But then the two of you came into my world with all your curiosity and mischief and those smiles that never fail to fill my heart and light up my day. And suddenly, all my big plans for myself didn’t seem so important anymore. I soon found that the greatest joy in my life was the joy I saw in yours. And I realized that my own life wouldn’t count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment in yours. In the end, girls, that’s why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.

…..

I hope both of you will take up that work, righting the wrongs that you see and working to give others the chances you’ve had. Not just because you have an obligation to give something back to this country that has given our family so much-although you do have that obligation. But because you have an obligation to yourself. Because it is only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you will realize your true potential.

These are the things I want for you-to grow up in a world with no limits on your dreams and no achievements beyond your reach, and to grow into compassionate, committed women who will help build that world. And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive that you girls have. That’s why I’ve taken our family on this great adventure.

I am so proud of both of you. I love you more than you can ever know. And I am grateful every day for your patience, poise, grace, and humor as we prepare to start our new life together in the White House.

Love, Dad

The Morning Banana Diet: going bananas for weight loss

The newest fad diet, Morning Banana Diet, is all the rave in Japan. I’m sure everyone have written on their New Year’s resolution about dieting so here’s another weight loss diet to consider. I recently discovered about it from Girltalk forum but I didn’t pay much attention about it. Until Mel and Joey also showed this Morning Banana Diet on TV earlier. I got curious, I researched about it and I’m sharing what I’ve found.

This is indeed a very simple and cheap diet that everyone can follow including me. The rule is simple, just eat bananas for breakfast (eat bananas as much as you like until full) and drink only room-temperature water. This should make you full until lunch. By lunch time, you can eat whatever you like. You can take your snack at 3 pm. For dinner, make sure you eat dinner before 8 pm and you should be asleep before 12 midnight. Eating dairy products such as ice cream as well as desserts is prohibited.

Some news I’ve found in the Internet reported rapid weight loss by following the Morning Banana Diet but remember that rapid weight loss might also bring rapid weight regain. I’m still not sure if this diet will work but I’m gonna try this too! Maybe we can also control our fat intake and consider eating healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and fiber-rich foods for lunch and dinner. Diet paired with exercise is still the best way to lose those excess pounds.

Spending the holidays at the Manila Ocean Park, Philippines

The Manila Ocean Park is the newest attraction in here in Manila, Philippines for Filipinos to enjoy. We don’t have to go to Hongkong’s Ocean Park, or to Singapore’s Sentosa, or to Malaysia’s Ocean Park attractions anymore. The Philippines is teeming with colorful sea life and this is a great way to showcase the treasures of our oceans. Manila Ocean Park’s entrance fee is Php 400 for adults; Php 350 for kids 4.5 ft. and below; children 2 ft. and below are free of admission fee. They also offer discounts for senior citizens, just present the Senior Citizen ID upon payment of the entrance fee.

There are 7 sections in Manila Ocean Park for you to explore: Agos (Flow), Bahura (Reef), Laot (Fishing Ground), Buhay na Karagatan (Living Ocean), Ang Kalaliman (The Deep), Pagi (Overhang Tank), and Pating (Shark). In Agos (Flow), there is a Touch Pool where you can touch and feel a real Starfish. Like Singapore’s and Hongkong’s Oceanarium, our own Manila Ocean Park has an underwater tunnel, a breathtaking 25-meter walk is surely an enjoyable experience for kids and adults like. Prepare your video/digital cameras and catch a glimpse of the huge Pagi or the colorful sea of fish passing by. Don’t miss the last section, Pating (Shark), we were able to watch a diver cleaning the huge aquarium of the sharks. Very entertaining.
