Make your own Havaianas is extended till May 5!

Good news to all Havaianas addicts like me! The much-awaited event, Make your own Havaianas (MYOH), is extended until Monday, May 5, 2008. So there’s more time for hoarding and customizing your pair of flip-flops.
So what makes the MYOH so special that it’s something to look forward to every year? In this event, you can customize your pair for you to really call it your own. You can mix and match the color of straps and sole and add lifestyle pins like star, headphone, skateboard, etc… This year, Havaianas really made it more special because aside from the Havaianas Top, they included the Havaianas Slim for the styles to choose from. This is really bliss for all ladies. Aside from that, you can now embellish the straps with swarovskis and even spell out your name. Lacinhos or “baby laces” are also available. Talk about really customizing.

The place was packed and they have to control the number of people inside hence the long line outside the tent.

Go to Rockwell Tent early… or you’ll end up falling and waiting in line for 2 hours just to get inside the tent. Knowing which styles/colors to get is also a big help to save time since you’ll also be spending an hour inside falling in line (again!) and waiting for your flip-flops to be made. If you want your flip-flops to be embellished with Swarovskis, you have to go to a dedicated counter so that means falling in line again.

Moi deciding the color combination and pins…

While waiting outside, one of the staffs will be handing out the brochures/guide (sort of an Order Form). The brochure shows the colors of the straps and soles, lifestyle pins and Swarovskis. Fill out the form, state your size, choose colors that you want and the lifetyle pins and letters you want to add.

At the counter waiting for my pairs…

Colorful straps to choose from…

For my Slim, crystal blue sole, golden sun slim strap, star and letter “b” pins

Putting pins at the straps takes time, so be patient…

They have this rule “Once holed, considered sold” policy so make sure that you state the position for your pins, especially if you want to spell out your name.

My customized pair is taking shape…

I am now a proud owner of 4 customized pairs!

For every pair of Havaianas purchased, you’ll get a stub for a free snack. The snack includes 1 pack of Holy Kettle Corn and 1 small cup of Nestea Iced Tea (I wished the cup was bigger though).

style=”font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;”>Our matching pairs!

This is why I love MYOH, hubby and I get to have matching pairs. We chose to have dark brown sole, moss green straps (slim strap for me) and skull pins.

Rave: Magnolia’s Choco Chip Cookie Dough

Summer heat is always making us crave for something cool to make those hot afternoons bearable. And ice cream is the cheapest escape for kids and adults alike, be it dirty ice cream, gourmet or store bought.

I’ve always been a fan of Magnolia ice cream. I love their Chocolate and Strawberry flavors. Their Limited Edition Choco Berry Truffles is good too! Now, I sooo love their Choco Chip Cookie Dough ice cream which reminds me of Ben & Jerry’s and Sebastian’s ice cream. Choco Chip Cookie Dough is vanilla ice cream blended with cookie dough and sprinkled with choco chips.

I will choose this over Sebastian’s Choco Chip Cookie Dough because Sebastian’s ice cream is too sweet for my taste. Magnolia’s is way cheaper than Sebastian’s too!

I won! I won! I won!

I know this is very late but I just want to thank Angel of Happy Family Matters for choosing my entry for his contest which ended last April 23, 2008. I won 1,000 Entrecard credits which I can use to advertise my blog. I know this doesn’t matter to some but it is for me as a newbie blogger.

Thank you and more power!

Unlike other link exhange sites which requires you to register. I’m going gaga over my passwords and email addresses, I can’t remember some of them.

BlogUpp takes a snapshot of your blog, the snapshot will be shown to other blogs with the BlogUpp widget running on them. What’s cool with this is it reads your blog’s RSS regularly so your thumbnail always displays your recent entries.

I placed the BlogUpp widget on the right side after the About Me section. Go get yours now from this site: BlogUpp!

Sidetrips in Aklan (Sampaguita Gardens, Ramboy’s, Bagobos)

When you’re in Aklan for your Boracay trip and you have time to spare, visiting Jojo’s Christmas Cottage at Sampaguita Gardens in New Washington, Aklan is well worth it. It’s a 10-minute ride from the Kalibo Airport. The highlight inside the Sampaguita Gardens is Jojo’s Christmas Cottage. In here, the motto is “Everyday is Christmas”. The cottage had its share of media exposures and was featured on some of TV shows like Rated K. The cottage houses “Precious Moments” doll collections and various Christmas trees in all forms, themes and sizes. Souvenir items like handicrafts, T-shirts, trinkets and other Precious Moments knick-knacks are sold here.

Jojo’s Christmas Cottage at night

Sampaguita Gardens is sort-of a Mini-Disneyland of Aklan in my opinion. It also has a Thai Spa, Thai-inspired Mr. Butcher’s House, hotel, butterfly garden, coffee shop, function hall and the Oriental Flavors Restaurant for your fine dining experience.

Restaurants:

To taste the best Lechon Manok in Aklan, go to Ramboy’s along the hi-way of Numancia, Aklan. For Caticlan-bound visitors, you can’t miss this place since public transportation always pass this route.

Ramboy’s, Numancia, Aklan

Just beside Ramboy’s is another restaurant called Bagobos. We had our dinner at this place on our first day. We ordered Crispy Pata and Sisig, the Crispy Pata is delicious. But service is really really slow, I’m warning you not to eat here if you’re looking for a quick bite.
