Prevent colon cancer

Colon cancer is the third most common form of cancer and the second cause of cancer-related deaths according to Wikipedia. These numbers are alarming, and that means colon cancer is a serious illness that needs immediate treatment once detected. Filipinos are very well aware of this now since this is the illness that caused the death of our beloved former President Cory Aquino. Her colon cancer was discovered when it’s already in Stage 4, the cancer has already spread in all parts of the body.

Known causes of colon cancer are age, known family history of colon cancer and a diet high in fat. Early prevention for colon cancer is advised expecially to those who have a history of colon cancer in the family. One effective way is to colon cleanse. Colon cleansing eliminates the toxins built up inside our body through our unhealthy diet. A detox diet (detoxification diet) called master cleansing will not only eliminate toxins but also makes you lose weight. It may be hard at first since this diet will only require you to drink lemonade consisting of lemo juice, maple syrup, cayenne paper and water. No solid food intake is allowed during this phase. After a detox diet, some may opt to undergo colonic. What is a colonic? It is a procedure that also cleanses the colon by inserting water into the colon through a tube.

Prevention is better than cure, right? I might try this detox diet if I have a free 10 days to stay at home.

  1. the easiest way to prevent colon cancer is to eliminate meat from your diet. no need to resort to cleansing (which is very hard to do for some people) or colonics (which if done wrong can be dangerous). just eat a diet high in fiber to cleanse the intestines the natural way, lots of water, fruits and vegetables.

  5. Hello,

Thanks for the interesting article colon cancer prevention.

I have a friend that’s fighting stage 4 colon cancer so I know what a dreadful disease it is.
I had my first colonoscopy at age 50. A polyp was found and removed. I’m now 58 and I had my second colonoscopy a few weeks ago. Nothing was found this time.

I just want to remind and encourage everyone to get screened for colon cancer. The procedure itself (colonoscopy) is not painful, with the possible exception of the I.V. The preparation the day before is a little inconvenient. Plan to be close to a bathroom.

The ‘official’ guideline is to have a colonoscopy if you are older than 50 and every 10 years thereafter. That is, if you’re at average risk. Check with your physician. Schedule an appointment today!
