Isdaan at Gerona, Tarlac

Last December, we headed to Manaoag, Pangasinan to have my brother’s new vehicle blessed. They decided to sell their old car and bought a new one for his growing family. On our way home, we had our lunch at Isdaan in Gerona, Tarlac. You can’t miss this place because of the huge signage with lots of cars parked in front, it sure is a popular stop-over for roadtrippers.

huge statues welcome guests at Isdaan

The giant buddhas, fishes and monkeys are nice, definitely adds some character to the place but some statues of public figures seem out of place with the place’s theme.

Isdaan’s visitor

Upon entering, guests will be led to their respective nipa huts.

Since we have children in our group, we were ushered into this area, Bata Batuta Park. Isdaan is a kid-friendly and family-friendly place because it also offers fun activities for the whole family. Kids are given Angry Birds balloons, loot bags and fish food to keep them occupied.

While waiting for the food, kids can roam around and ride on a boat for free. Just give a tip to manong bangkero.

On to the food, we ordered a lot but we’re all famished and everyone reached out for the nearest plate so I wasn’t able to take pictures of all our orders.

Spicy Crab

Pinangatsiw na Tilapia

I didn’t know that there is such a term as Pinangatsiw. With this dish, the broth is sweet and sour at the same time, perfect balance and the broth is so addicting.

Bagong Saing na kanin

We also ordered their specialty which is Tinupig Lechon Manok. It’s roast chicken wrapped in banana leaves, chicken is so tender and flavorful. Their calamares is just the usual kind served in most restaurants.

Isdaan is a perfect place to go to especially if you have balikbayan relatives who want to eat authentic Pinoy food. It’s quite a long drive from Manila but the food and the place is worth it.

Yes Irene, pretty affordable, most of the items in the menu are good for sharing. Pricing is just like the paluto here in Manila.

  4. Bentang benta kay Mama ang Isdaan. As in pagkasundo namin sa kanya sa airport, daan lang saglit sa Duty Free tapos diretso kami sa Isdaan dito sa Calauan. 🙂

Meron din pala dyan, kala ko sa Tarlac lang. Baka mas malapit yan sa Manila? I wanted to go back because of the food kaya lang ang layo.
