Where to stay in Batanes: Marfel’s Lodge, Time Travel, Amboy’s Hometel and more

When you’re in Batanes, particularly in Basco, you’ll see plenty of cheap hotels/guesthouses that you can choose from. Of course, Fundacion Pacita is the most luxurious place to stay there. But for the average traveller, you’ll find a cheap accommodation in Batanes that will suit your budget.

Marfel’s Lodge

Marfel’s Lodge

Marfel’s Lodge is just a 5-minute leisure walk from the airport. We stayed here last January. The owner is Fe Fitero, Ate Fe, she welcomes her guests warmly and she really made Marfel into a “home away from home”. There are 2 rooms at the second floor which can accommodate 3 adults each, so if you’re a group of 6, you have the whole house to yourselves. You can use the ref, stove, microwave oven, coffee maker, kitchen utensils and stove (minimal charge for gas). You won’t go hungry because Ate Fe makes sure that the ref is fully stocked with drinks (sodas and juices) and beside the ref is a table with chips, biscuits, cup noodles, etc. It’s a mini-Honesty store for their guests. Marfel’s has free wifi too!

As of February 2014, there’s a Marfel’s Annex too.

Here are other cheap places to stay in Batanes that I saw while walking around the area.

Time Travel Lodge

Time Travel Lodge

I think the owner of Time Travel Lodge is related with Ate Fe too. My friend who stayed there said that it has a more spacious garden than Marfel’s. And I love those wooden lounge chairs, perfect place to eat breakfast.

Shanedel’s Inn

Shanedel’s Inn

Shanedel’s has a view of the ocean. It has its own cafe that serves meals to their guests.

Amboy Hometel

Amboy Hometel

We were able to visit Amboy Hometel because this is where we ate lunch during our South Batan tour. Amboy Hometel is the newest among the accommodation listed here. One disadvantage is that it’s quite far from the town proper.

Trivia: The cast and crew of GMA News TV’s Byahe ni Drew stayed here, yup, including Drew Arellano.

 Octagon Bed and Dine

Octagon Bed and Dine

Octagon Bed and Dine also has a restaurant, we ate at the restaurant twice that’s why I learned that they also offer a place to stay. There are 3 air-conditioned rooms facing the sea with twin beds, TV, WiFi and hot and cold shower.

Batanes Seaside Lodge

Batanes Seaside Lodge

When we got offloaded from our flight back to Manila, PAL Express offered to take us to Batanes Seaside for a free accommodation. Some offloaded passengers stayed here but we opted to go back to Marfel’s Lodge and pay for the extra night ourselves. Just like Shanedel’s and Octagon Bed and Dine, it also has a view of the sea.

  3. thanks for this very informative post. I have to batanes also but I only visited two islands. that is, sabtang ang batan. For the second time around, I wanted to visit itbayat, Ivuhos and dequey. Ivuhos and dequey are quite close to sabtang. While itbayat can only be reached safely by a local flight. Do you have a contact number of the Time Travel Lodge?

    Badet Reply:

We visited Ivuhos island but we weren’t able to go around the island. We just went for a quick swim. On my next visit, I hope to visit Itbayat too. You can also go to Itbayat via the faluwa. Unfortunately, I only have the number of Marfel’s.
