Where to stay in Boracay: Sun Villa Beachfront Resort & Spa Review

Earlier this month, I celebrated my 35th birthday in my favorite island, Boracay. My family keeps coming back every year for new and exciting discoveries on food, activities, and hotels. There are a lot of nice hotels in Boracay but some of them can be pricey especially during super peak season. I’m happy to discover Sun Villa Beachfront Resort and Spa which is an affordable place to stay in Station 2.

When in Boracay, the most coveted location is near the beach and near D’Mall and other bars and restaurants. Sun Villa Beachfront is perfect because of its beachfront location and it’s just a few minutes walk to where the action is. Starbucks is just a stone’s throw away, Gerry’s Grill is so near I can see it in our window. The entrance to the resort and reception is at the side because Sun Spa and Sun Asian Kitchen occupies the front area. I think they did it on purpose so that you’ll be away from the noise along the beachfront especially at night.

This is their lobby and restaurant.

We arrived late at night because our flight from Manila was 2 hours delayed. I just called the resort about our late arrival just to ensure our booking. Despite that, we were warmly welcomed along with refreshing glasses of blended iced tea. After I filled out their guest info sheet, we were finally led into our room which will be our home for 5 days.

This is what greeted us…

The room feels so relaxing with those two queen-sized beds with canopies. I love the cozy and homey ambiance of the resort, the wooden furniture and accents are perfect for an island destination.

We were booked at Room No. 16 which is located at the 3rd floor. The room can accommodate maximum of 5 persons, there’s a sofa bed that can accommodate one person.

You can view the beach from that door with balcony. There’s cable TV and personal ref in one corner.

There’s a storage area near the main door to store your things. The room has only the basics which I like because it made the room more spacious. They clean and make up your room everyday or upon request, fresh towels are also provided and toiletries replenished. Although, we’re really not particular with towels and toiletries because we always bring our own.

The bathroom is newly renovated, yay! I can tell with the newly installed tiles and also fixtures. The shower area is separated with a curtain. It can use additional hooks or bars to hang our clothes and shelves for our toiletries though.

Wifi is strong in our room even if it’s located in the upper floor. They have a separate wifi in the restaurant too.

Guests can enjoy added perks such as 20% discount in the Sun Asian Kitchen and 15% discount at the Sun Spa. You can call for room service until late at night.

Ice-cold craft beer from Budget Mart and sisig 🙂

There is no pool at the Sun Villa Beachfront, however, their Sun Villa Hilltop has one. Sun Villa has 3 locations in Boracay which caters to your taste whether you like some privacy or you like to be in the middle of everything. Visit www.boracaysunresorts.com.ph for the rates and like them on Facebook, Sun Resorts Boracay.

I had an awesome birthday in Boracay and will be back again next year.
