Headbands are the hottest accessory for the hair popularized by the Gossip Girl TV series. Blair Waldorf who played Leighton Meester sports different kinds of headbands or headpieces, thus last year, the “Blair bands” became a trend in Hollywood. Gossip Girl fashion also hit Philippine shores as some popular local celebrities followed suit. First in the list is Anne Curtis’ Php 35,000 headband made by Jennifer Behr. I first saw her wearing the headband at the Eraserheads The Final Set concert.
Looking at Jennifer Behr’s collection, Anne Curtis is wearing the Wide Encrusted on Satin Ribbon and costs $ 625.
this one’s got serious bling power. Swarovski crystals are stitched to satin ribbon to create an absolutely stunning effect. hair up or down, elastic at back ensures a comfortable fit all night long. 2″ in width.
Ogling at Jennifer Behr’s collections, here are the pieces I fell in love with:
one of our best selling styles and a celebrity favorite! this braid of six woven strands of Swarovski crystals, finished at back with our trademark elastic, is now available in several colors. Natalie Portman wore the smoked color on David Letterman. notes on colors: “crystal” is clear crystal with a silver finish so is very bright and sparkly. “antique crystal” is clear crystal finished in a dark gold so is more muted and antique looking. “smoked” is smokey dark grey — really subtle and glam.
delicate satin and crystal headwrap. 5/8″ satin ribbon with Swarovski crystals designed after a victorian jewel. one of our all time best selling styles as it is so easy to wear.
sophisticated turban wrap, knotted out of vintage cording in a lustrous coral color, finished with brass caps and elastic. a nautical turban of sorts
The three headbands I like are simple yet classy. They’re all lovely headpieces right? But what’s not likeable is the price. I’m sure the designer has the reasons for the hefty price tag, because they are handmade and worn by Hollywood A-listers add to that price tag. If you have money, then splurge!
Fortunately, local accessory designers have come up with pieces with budget-friendly prices. Such are The Royalty Shop and Matthew & Melka, both are online shops in Multiply. Both designers features Jennifer Behr-inspired pieces at a fraction of the price. Some designs are even better than Jennifer Behr’s, way to go for our local designers!
Look at this Sui Gold Rope headband, I like this better than Behr’s version since it’s smaller… It’s only Php 250 ($ 5.44).
Matthew & Melka headpieces are more glamorous and a little expensive than The Royalty Shop but their collection seem to always fly off the shelves.
I’m wearing a short ‘do now but I’m tempted to buy some pieces from TRS. Hmmm….
Kahit may money ako na ganyan kalaki, I won’t spend that much on a headband kasi napakadulas ng buhok ko, I’m sure mahuhulog lang yan like most headbands that I wear.

i wouldnt spend that much on headbands… malaki ulo ko eh, so i couldnt sport much kase medyo masakit talaga, mahal man or mura, haha… anyway, i’ve seen Korean women sporting really elegant looking headbands but i think it’s not that brand and not that expensive too… Korean women really have a thing on fashion, they make even cheap clothes look expensive.. they redefine “casual” clothing… i’m somehow wishful i could be that fashionista too but i’m more into the “comfort” and “feeling comfortable” with what i wear…

Grabe ang mahal nung headband. Kahit siguro manalo pa ako sa lotto e hindi ako bibili ng ganyang kamahal na headband. Hindi rin naman kasi ako mahilig magsuot ng headband. Maganda yung Petite Crystal and Satin Headwrap 🙂 Simple pero elegant nga… Yun lang ang mahal 🙁
