We have a strong liking to Mexican food, and fortunately, we now have a lot of dining options whenever we crave for one. One of our favorites…our new amigo, is Gringo. Ever since they opened in SM North Edsa, The Block, it’s always been a Gringo chicken lunch or dinner for us. Their flavorful and juicy chicken is unforgettable, you’ll want to come back for more.

It took me a couple of visits before I was able to blog about Gringo because the food is always wiped out, and we’re always too excited to eat before I remember to take pictures. Here’s our staple order, Gringo Southern Spice Chicken with sides of Mexican Rice and Macaroni Salad.
Gringo’s chicken is baked before grilled, resulting to tender and flavorful meat. I love the skin where I can taste the kick of all the Latin American spices used.
A half order or Southern Spice Chicken comes with 3 sides, you can choose from rice, beans, corn, french fries, macaroni salad, fried saba, or even healthy ones like okra, kamote and squash. We always get 2 orders of Mexican rice, and Macaroni Salad.
We love Gringo’s Macaroni Salad, it’s sweet and tangy with just the right amount of mayo. However, yesterday’s order turned us down, it lacks the sweetness from the pineapples. We told the staff about it and replaced our salad with added pineapple bits but still, it didn’t taste like the macaroni salad we used to enjoy. I hope it’s just a glitch from their kitchen, we’ll see on our next visit.
Of course, our Southern Spice chicken is further amplified with these two sauces, Lemon Herb and Hot Sauce. Don’t get me wrong, you can eat the chicken on its own, that’s how tasty it is. But the Lemon Herb gives it a whole new dimension, in fact, it’s another thing why I keep coming back to Gringo.
Happy tummies, gracias Gringo!
