Online tutoring

Online tutoring is one of the popular sidelines and even full-time jobs in the Philippines today. Aside from it’s fun, it has a decent pay and you get to work only for a few hours. My sister-in-law worked as an online tutor for Koreans before she worked in a call center. She taught English subjects only but sometimes her students asked her for math help. She ended up giving free math help to her students albeit her dislike in math. She became close to her students, they even extend their tutoring session just to tell stories about their lives, crushes, problems, etc. She must have impressed her student’s parents because they offered my SIL to be an online math tutor as well. She declined the offer because she pursued other job.

Online tutors, anyone?

Intrigued with her line of work, I then searched if there are other countries aside from Korea that has a distance learning/tutoring trend. Apparently, if Koreans are looking for online tutors for the English language, the Americans, Canadians and Australians are more likely to seek online math help. Because of this, online math tutoring is prevalent in their countries. The site TutorVista.com provides this kind of service, it boasts of having math experts ready to help you 24/7 for all your math subjects from K-12 until college. They offer unlimited package per month that lets the students use the service anytime. A free online math tutoring is also available for trial to see if the package and service is suited for the student.

  1. i passed an exam and interview here before as an online teacher kaso they said my voice was too small and that i might not be taken seriously by my future students—yes, they recorded my voice. the owner was kind enough to tell me that they were going to transfer to Philippines in 3 months. so most probably they are already in full operation there.

  3. I know a few people who have been teaching Koreans the English language. They earn well considering it only takes a couple of hours a day and they have a flexible schedule in teaching. One of the people I know is also working and two of my cousins are doing this as a full time job.
    Cheers!
