The title can’t get any Japanese right? And yes, this is another ramen post. I love ramen! We were at SM Aura the other night, since it’s a new mall, the air-conditioning is colder than other malls plus it rained so it’s the perfect time to get our ramen fix. Oookay, honestly, we really intended to go to SM Aura just because we want to eat at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen :p

Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen at SM Aura
Had I known that they also have a branch at the East Wing of Shangrila Plaza Mall, we could have eaten there. But I was told that SM Aura’s branch is bigger. The place was packed, in fact, we waited for about 10 minutes outside before getting a table. The place really has an authentic Japanese vibe in it, from the people eating in the bar and the wooden planks surrounding the tables. I really like this place because the wooden planks give you a bit privacy.
Check out the other ramen places I’ve tried:
- Ajisen Ramen
- Kimono Ken
- Ramen X
- Sumo Sam
- Genya Tonkotsu Ramen
- Teriyaki Boy
- Sakae Sushi
- Nomama
- Ramen Yushoken
- Ryu Ramen & Curry
- Taisho Ramen
- Hokkaido Ramen Santouka
- Hanamaruken Ramen
We always ask the staff of their recommendations since it’s our first time to eat here. He said Ajitama Tonkotsu is their bestseller.

Ajitama Tonkotsu, Php 380
Jeff prefers soy-based ramen and Ajitama Tonkotsu is perfect for him, it’s soy sauce based with chashu, ajitama (hard-boiled egg), mushrooms and nori. The noodles are hard or al dente.
Since Jeff got Ajitama Tonkotsu, I got curious with their Black Garlic Tonkotsu. It’s my first time to encounter a black garlic-infused ramen among the ramen places I’ve tried.

Black Garlic Tonkotsu, Php 380
The aroma of the garlic wafted through the air while they were putting this on our table. It’s tonkotsu soup mixed with black garlic oil. Toppings include chashu, mushrooms and nori, no tamago or ajitama for this one.
I like that the ramen were served steaming hot. The noodles are cooked al dente (by request). The serving is very filling, so the Php 380 price point is pretty affordable and at par with other ramen restaurants.
The tonkotsu broth is very flavorful, I just find it a bit salty especially the Black Garlic one. The Chashu is thinly sliced and is very tender, each bowl has only one slice and I want another piece of it.
Next time we dine at Ikkoryu, I will try their Spicy Tobanjan Tonkotsu.

I have not been to SM Aura and I have not tried Ikkoryo yet. I am so not updated lol

I tried this at Shangrila, unfortunately I accidentally deleted all the pics LOL. I also ordered the Black Garlic while I liked the taste it was too oily for me.
