Hong Kong Disneyland – Day 1

On our day 1 of our Hong Kong-Macau vacation, we headed to Hong Kong Disneyland despite the jetlag and lacking hours of sleep. We arrived in Hong Kong at 7:40 AM, went straight to our guesthouse in Tsim Sha Tsui via the Airport Bus and grabbed our breakfast at Yoshinoya.

Going to Disneyland is a breeze even for a newbie traveller in Hong Kong, just a sense of direction, a map, familiarity of MTR stations and the Octopus Card. From Tsim Sha Tsui station, ride the train going to Lai King station, hop on to the other line, Tung Chung line, get down at Sunny Bay station (the interchange station to the Disney Resort Line) wherein you can see the Disneyland train.

Disneyland Park Tickets can be bought at the main entrance or online. Ticket prices are as follows:

But if you’re looking for discounted and cheap Disneyland tickets, you can ask the staff of your guesthouse or hotel if they sell them. HK Taisan Guesthouse where we stayed sells discounted Disneyland tickets so we availed the tickets at HKD 285 only. If you can’t find cheap tickets at your hotel/guesthouse, you may purchase tickets at Traveleasy Ltd. located in Central. This is by far the one that sells the cheapest Disneyland tickets and also Ocean Park tickets.

The best time to go to Disneyland is during weekdays to avoid the crowd. If you have kids with you, it’s best to start early at around 11 AM  until the fireworks at 8 PM. If your group consists of adults, you can go there after lunchtime since food and drinks inside the park can be quite expensive. The most important thing is to never leave Disneyland without seeing the Disney on Parade at 3:30 PM and Disney in the Stars fireworks display at 8:00 PM. To maximize your day in Disneyland, be familiar with the Disneyland attractions and time guides, you can grab the map and times guide brochures at the park entrance. Finish all the shows in the morning like Mickey’s Philharmagic, The Golden Mickeys and the Festival of the Lion King. In the afternoon, enjoy the rides and lastly, have your picture taken with your favorite Disney characters. Be warned though, Mickey and Minnie Mouse are a hit so be prepared to wait in line.

  2. Hi Diane, we stayed at Taisan Store 1, along Nathan Road and very near the MTR station. You should call Ate Yolly, the one who manages Store 1, she’s a Filipina. Ken doesn’t reply to my emails kasi eh. I’ll post Ate Yolly’s number here. Hanapin ko lang yung calling card.

  5. Hi Shiela, we were in HK last April 30-May 5. Don’t worry about the swine flu scare, everything is under control and like what the HK government said, they are more than prepared for the A(H1N1) virus because of their previous experience in SARS.

HK is very tourist friendly, there are signs everywhere, just read the signs at di ka na maliligaw. It would be best to go to Ocean Park too especially if it’s your first time but then, you can always come back =). Solve na rin yung mga kids sa Disneyland. =)

  9. Hi Maxene, yup, found the number. It’s (852) 2366 8273, that’s the number of Taisan Store 1 where Ate Yolly is located. Hope this helps, do come back at my site to share your HK experience, enjoy!

  10. hey thanks for ate yolly’s number if i may ask did they ask for the full payment when you checked in?

    [Reply]

  11. Yes, but they won’t force you to pay in full. Like with our situation, we said we don’t have enough HK dollars so we have to go to the money changer pa. We paid in full on our 3rd day, baka kasi maubos sa shopping kaya nagbayad na kami para safe. 🙂

  17. Hi does anyone know if I can fit a family of 5 in hong kong Disneyland hotel? My kids are 3,5,8 and I don’t want to split 2 rooms.

    [Reply]

    Badet Reply:

    Hi ES,

Rooms in Disney Hotel are big, and you’re kids are small pa naman so I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem. You can request for extra mattress for a fee if you want it more space.

Hi, I really don’t keep track of our budget kasi minsan napapagastos kami sa food and shopping. Pero around Php 20k will do na siguro minus the airfare ha.

  22. Hi Badet,

We’re planning a trip for our son’s 10th birthday… am not sure whether we should celebrate it in HK or SG. Our almost 2 year old daughter will be coming with us as well and I wouldn’t want to much strain to be put on her during the travel/ seeing what city has to offer. It’s still on November but as early as now, I would like to try and fix the whole thing. Hoping forward to your reply. Thanks!!!!

1 hour lang ang ferry from Macau to HK. You can stay sa guesthouse, Taisan or Golden Crown.

  24. Hi Ms. Badet,

Just like to ask where did you exactly stay?

At Burlington Branch, located at Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station Exit B (Nathan Road # 90) side; OR at Harilela Branch, located at Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station Exit C2 (Nathan Road #81) side?

Is this far from each other?

Coz they suggested us to stay at Harilela Branch.

    [Reply]

    Badet Reply:

Magkalapit lang yan Judy. Harilela branch is their newly renovated branch pero di pa ako nakapagstay dun. I always stay at Burlington branch.

  25. hi badet,

ask ko lang if coming from macau to Hongkong Island sang pier dapat sumakay sa macau? then pano kami makakarating sa The Peak? tnx

    [Reply]

    Badet Reply:

    Hi Grace,

Ang alam ko isa lang naman ang Pier sa Macau eh. Going to HK, choose the ferry na sa Central Pier magda-dock. From Central, look for the Bus 15C terminal going to the Peak.

  26. Hi po

will go HK Oct 7-11. pero maiiwan ako sa last day which is Oct 10 so im thinking to look for a cheaper place to stay. safe po ba sa taisan and sa place n yon khit mag isa lang. even maglakd outside the guesthouse at late like 10 or 11pm.

    thank u 🙂

    [Reply]

    Badet Reply:

    Yes, very safe!

  27. thank u. feeling better now. Ken emailed me already. kaya lang wala nang solo bed. Double Bed nlng daw worth 400HKD. i think im gonna get it na. I think its safer kesa sa Tsungking or Mirador Mansion. mas mpapamahal nga lang ako ako ng mga 800 pesos. hehe

    Thank U po.

  28. hi badet.. sa sunday na punta namin ng hk. nakapagpareserve na rin ako sa taisan guesthouse… pero up to now wala pa rin kami confirmation.. di ba hahanapin sa airport un?
isa pang querry, from airport kc, diretso kami sa disneyland.. anu pinakamagandang way para makarating kami dun ng hindi kami masyadong gagastos ng pamasahe?.. hehe! thanks.

    [Reply]

    Badet Reply:

Nakapagdeposit ka na ba ng downpayment? If nagdeposit ka thru Western Union or Paypal, pakita mo na lang yung receipt or email from Paypal pag hinananapan ka sa airport and you can also use it at Taisan as proof.

Yung ginagawa ng iba, S1 bus to Tung Chung MTR Station, tapos MTR to Sunny Bay (1 station apart lang naman) then transfer to Disney train. May lockers na rin naman sa Disneyland for your luggage.

    [Reply]

    Rhianne Reply:
