Swimming lessons around Metro Manila

School’s out and if you’re kids got nothing to do, have them take swimming lessons. You know how kids enjoy swimming and playing with water, besides it’s the perfect way to beat the summer heat. Start them young because learning to swim is very very important. Too bad I just realized this at an older age. Yep, I don’t know how to swim and my first swimming lesson was 5 years ago (*blush*). And like the saying goes, you can teach an old dog new tricks, it’s quite difficult for me to learn to swim. Yikes, so make sure teach your kids at an early stage.

summer time is swim time!

DZMM Takbo Para sa Kalikasan Year 11

I joined the DZMM Takbo Para sa Kalikasan Year 11 last Sunday, my third time for this yearly running event. Sponsored by DZMM, the running event is for the benefit of the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. Takbo Para sa Kalikasan is one running event I can see myself joining every year because registration fee is affordable (Php 200 this year) and its accessible location (The Fort is too far where most running events are held).

Raymund Marasigan at Team Manila, Mall of Asia

The Eraserheads fever is still on! After the March 7, 2009 concert, Eraserheads fans still can’t get over from that memorable event. In line with the concert, Team Manila released limited edition shirts. The shirts were selling like hotcakes and most of the time, they are often out of stock.

brought my antique cassette tapes too…

Last Saturday, we went to Team Manila to buy the limited edition Eraserheads T-shirts and to have it signed by the band’s drummer, Raymund Marasigan. The Team Manila store were teeming with buyers who want to get their hands on the Eraserheads T-shirts. We were lucky to be there early at around 2 pm, we were able to grab shirts also for my brother, for a friend and for an officemate. I bet they ran out of stocks again for those shirts.

So this sums up the weekend of an ecstatic fangirl.

Playboy Philippines sponsors Bloggers Night Out at the Source Bar

The Bloggers Night Out last March 20, 2009 was one of the rarest events that I was able to attend as a blogger. Invites were sent by Azrael Coladilla, bloggers will be the first to witness as Playboy Philippines unveils their April 2009 Anniversary issue and introduced the new playmates. Early bloggers at the event got a free Playboy Magazine. The venue, Source Bar, provided cool music, cocktails and snacks. It’s quite nice to see familiar faces I’ve met in previous blogger events like Earth, Nicely, Edelweiza and Sarah. Well, gentlemen must have enjoyed the event more than the ladies that night, but as Azrael promised, it’s a wholesome event.

Blue Water Day Spa Capitol Hills Grand Opening

I’m one of the 10 bloggers who was invited by Mr. Francis Simisim of Techfilipino.com to witness the unveiling of the newest branch of Blue Water Day Spa at Capitol Hills, Quezon City. I failed to experience the Spa Movie Theater at their Ortigas branch because of conflict on my schedule so I vowed to myself not to miss this one. Aside from that, I am ecstatic to meet Piolo Pascual and Marian Rivera in person, the two are the celebrity endorsers of Blue Water Day Spa. Meeting these two gorgeous people, especially Piolo Pascual, already brought me to cloud nine. Marian Rivera is like a doll with her beautiful face.

If you’re still yearning for some TLC from a masseuse, Blue Water Day Spa has well-trained and courteous ladies waiting to take care of you. I love the concept of the rooms in the spa which are labeled as Heavenly, Tranquility, Serenity, etc… Just take your pick and I’m sure you’ll feel relaxed and revived all the same.

Blue Water Day Spa, Capitol Hills

The location of the newest branch is perfect! Going to the Capitol Hills branch is a relaxation for the body, mind and soul. It’s surely an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city without leaving the city. Tucked away within the luscious greens of the golf course, visiting the spa literally meant a breathe of fresh air.

And after your massage, go out, lounge and grab your cup of tea and watch the sunset….

Make your own Havaianas is extended till May 5!

Good news to all Havaianas addicts like me! The much-awaited event, Make your own Havaianas (MYOH), is extended until Monday, May 5, 2008. So there’s more time for hoarding and customizing your pair of flip-flops.
So what makes the MYOH so special that it’s something to look forward to every year? In this event, you can customize your pair for you to really call it your own. You can mix and match the color of straps and sole and add lifestyle pins like star, headphone, skateboard, etc… This year, Havaianas really made it more special because aside from the Havaianas Top, they included the Havaianas Slim for the styles to choose from. This is really bliss for all ladies. Aside from that, you can now embellish the straps with swarovskis and even spell out your name. Lacinhos or “baby laces” are also available. Talk about really customizing.

The place was packed and they have to control the number of people inside hence the long line outside the tent.

Go to Rockwell Tent early… or you’ll end up falling and waiting in line for 2 hours just to get inside the tent. Knowing which styles/colors to get is also a big help to save time since you’ll also be spending an hour inside falling in line (again!) and waiting for your flip-flops to be made. If you want your flip-flops to be embellished with Swarovskis, you have to go to a dedicated counter so that means falling in line again.

Moi deciding the color combination and pins…

While waiting outside, one of the staffs will be handing out the brochures/guide (sort of an Order Form). The brochure shows the colors of the straps and soles, lifestyle pins and Swarovskis. Fill out the form, state your size, choose colors that you want and the lifetyle pins and letters you want to add.

At the counter waiting for my pairs…

Colorful straps to choose from…

For my Slim, crystal blue sole, golden sun slim strap, star and letter “b” pins

Putting pins at the straps takes time, so be patient…

They have this rule “Once holed, considered sold” policy so make sure that you state the position for your pins, especially if you want to spell out your name.

My customized pair is taking shape…

I am now a proud owner of 4 customized pairs!

For every pair of Havaianas purchased, you’ll get a stub for a free snack. The snack includes 1 pack of Holy Kettle Corn and 1 small cup of Nestea Iced Tea (I wished the cup was bigger though).

style=”font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;”>Our matching pairs!

This is why I love MYOH, hubby and I get to have matching pairs. We chose to have dark brown sole, moss green straps (slim strap for me) and skull pins.
