Spicy Cheese Rolls aka Dynamite Sticks recipe

Spicy Cheese Rolls/Dynamite Sticks recipe: If you’ve been visiting bars and some Mexican restos, you might know this appetizer. I first had it at Mogwai Bar in Cubao Expo, listed as Dynamite Sticks. Jeff and I really liked munching on this so we made this at home.

Spicy Cheese Rolls/Dynamite Sticks

Ingredients:

  • lumpia wrapper
  • Kraft Eden cheese (cut into thin strips)
  • green chilis (siling haba, the one used in cooking sinigang)
  • store-bought bottle of chunky salsa

Steps:

1. After washing the green chilis, remove the seeds by slicing it in half. Make sure to remove all the seeds and white part inside the chili. You only need the skin.

2. Put strips of cheese and green chilis in the lumpia wrapper and wrap them. Seal the edges with water.

deep-fry!

3. Deep fry them until golden brown. Serve the chunky salsa on the side.

Notes:

  • Don’t use quickmelt cheese because it oozes out of the wrapper long before the lumpia wrapper is cooked. The only thing left inside is the green chili.
  • You can use any brand of salsa, spicy or not. We used Tostitos, available in the grocery. You can also make your own.
  • Enjoy this with an ice-cold beer! hehe…

  2. I haven’t tasted this and sa blog ko pa lang sya nakikita. I saw one blogger posting a recipe about this. Yung version nya may ham. Tapos sawsawan nya is suka with salt, pepper and cucumber. I’ve been wanting to try this at home, it looks so easy to make. Thanks sis for the recipe. 🙂

  4. I might try this without the chili. Not much into spicy food. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your recipe!

  5. No sis, kasi yung green chili di naman masyadong maanghang eh. Mas nagpapaanghang yung salsa, if you want you can make a different dip, or try the regular salsa na lang.

  10. Well i have never heard of those but they look so good and seem so easy to make that I might even try to make some ( I am not much of a cook unless it is a cake…) Though I have never heard of lumpia wrapper so I will have to look for that first.

  15. ..thanks for sharing this :D! sarap ito talaga…what ive tried, buo yung sili na ni wrapped so yung tangkay ang hawakan because it is supposed to be served super hot. 😀 then, kung walang sili, the dynamite name will not be justified diba? heheheh

    Hi Jobelle,

Advance happy birthday! Hindi ako magaling tumantya pero for this, under 100 pesos lang ang nagastos ko. Ang mahal lang yung cheese syempre, pero don’t use Quickmelt na, kahit Eden lang pwede na. Enjoy!
