Ryu Ramen & Curry

This is another ramen post by a ramen lover, yours truly.

I first learned about Ryu Ramen & Curry after watching an episode of Poptalk last year. The next day, we found ourselves slurping a hot bowl of spicy ramen inside the restaurant. Ryu Ramen & Curry is just along Tomas Morato and we didn’t have a hard time finding the place. Parking might be a challenge though especially during peak hours.

Ryu Ramen & Curry is beside California Berry

The interior is very clean. Minimalist wooden tables on one side and in the other side is the open kitchen.

Of course, when a restaurant carries the name “ramen” and “curry”, it’s a must to order it as a diner and it’s a must for the restaurant to specialize on it. While scanning through their menu, we were given a complementary appetizer, squid tentacles.

They have plenty of offerings for their ramen but Tantanmen is their bestseller according to the staff. I chose this with just Mild spiciness level, our friend ordered the same but with Very Hot spiciness level.

Tantanmen Ramen, Php 280. Choose between Mild, Hot & Very Hot spiciness level.

I love miso-based ramen, and I can tolerate spicy food. The restaurant is not kidding when it says spicy, I only chose the lowest spiciness level and yet I need to take a break from sipping the soup. Good thing the sweet slices of chasyu, soft boiled eggs and the perfectly cooked noodles provided a tasty interval from the soup. Even though this ramen is spicy, I can still taste the flavors especially the miso.

As for my friend’s Very Hot Tantanmen, he managed to finish his bowl, with sweat and tears? hehe…

Check out the other ramen places I’ve tried:

One friend ordered their Katsu Curry.

Katsu Curry, Php 240

The Katsu Curry serving is enough for 2 persons. Just order extra rice if you want. With this dish, sauce pa lang, ulam na.

Yakisoba, Php 180

Jeff ordered their Yakisoba, nothing special or outstanding about it. I must commend the generous toppings on it.

Ryu Ramen & Curry is a relatively new ramen place but the place is packed even on a weekday night. Having Ogie Alcasid as a part-owner might add as a bonus to its popularity but I’m sure diners are also giving a thumbs up for their ramen.
