Mongkok street foods

You know you’re in Mongkok when as you emerge from the MTR exit, you can smell the street foods. Some smell stinky, especially the intestines. And when it comes to intestines, I still prefer our very own “isaw”. But to give in to my curiosity, I gave it a try. There’s plenty of street foods to choose from, from intestines, bacon wrapped sausage, lobster balls, fish balls, etc…

I can see beef balls, bean curd, sausage, lobster balls

bacon wrapped sausage (lower right)

fish balls

isaw! I still prefer our very own inihaw na isaw, they fry their isaw in HK

Street foods costs 10-12 HKD.  I tried the fish balls but they taste bleh, if it wasn’t for the spicy sauce. But the bacon wrapped sausage is yummy. The intestines smell and taste funky…

It’s really fun tasting even unfamiliar food sometimes even if it’s not appetizing to look at like strawberry covered chocolates bought using shari’s berries promotion code.

How about you? From the photos, what do you like to try?

  2. I’ll play it safe and go for the bacon covered sausage or just plain sausage. How do they cook it? And are the lobster balls made of real lobster, or just artificial meat?

They are all fried Madz. Artificial meat lang siguro, the lobster balls are the same as the ones sold in Potdog stalls here.

  3. In our HK trip last month, we also dared to try a certain street food in Mong Kok. The hawker said, it was a dumpling made from veggies. Yeah, it was smelling funny and very oily, so it ended in the trash even we paid 10HKD for it. Bad. Hahaha.

  4. Nasubukan rin namin ito years ago. The food was ok naman, but I wasn’t happy with the vendor. I bought 2 sticks worth 7hkd, and I liked it, so I bought another one. I was charged 10 na!
