Ballet Manila presents Snow White

Due to the success of “Cinderella,” another masterpiece from the Prima Ballerina will have its world premiere in the 22nd performance season, “Flights of Fantasy.” Snow White will make its world premiere on November 25, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Aliw Theater.

Ballet Manila’s take on the fairy tale classic, Snow White, will be more Brothers Grimm than Disney when it comes to the production’s look and feel. This was a conscious decision made by Lisa herself, as she wanted the storytelling to be the main star of the show. They are “storytellers on toes,” after all.

iAcademy: The game changer of education

Unemployment rate in the Philippines is very high, it’s a sad hard truth that even college graduates can not find a job right after they graduate. Yet, we hear news from the government that there are a number of employment opportunities since there are additional number of investors coming to our country. Unfortunately, those job opportunities does not answer the needs of fresh graduates. Some are not hired because their skills are not fit to the job opportunity, some job positions are left vacant because there are no competent individuals to fill the part.

Every year, we have a fresh batch of engineers, nurses, computer professionals, but do they have what it takes to take on the demands of their chosen career? Based on high unemployment rate, maybe not. Then it’s time to retrace our steps and think the cause of this dilemma, the college education.

We have all gone through college and we all know the process, minor subjects during the first 2 years and then major subjects for the next 2 or more years, on-the-job training, thesis, then graduate. Most colleges and universities follow this but one educational institution stands out from the rest, the Information and Communications Technology Academy or iAcademy.

My first half-marathon at Run United 2 2014

I survived my first half-marathon at the recently concluded Run United 2 last Sunday. This year, I dared to be fitter and more active so I went back to the gym sometime last March. Prior to Run United 2, I joined the Yakult 10-miler last March and a 10km run in Ateneo for the Kythe Foundation last April. These two races plus circuit training at the gym made me confident to take the plunge and run my first half-marathon. I’m also excited to take my new running buddy on the road, my Mizuno Wave Rider 17, I love using it at the gym and I can hear my new shoes roaring for some pavemen action.

My 2nd 10-miler at the Yakult 25th Run

The 16 km at the Yakult 25th Run was my second 10 miler after the New Balance Power Run. Normally,  I would just register for a safer distance of 10 km or 5km but this year, I plan to push harder since I’m going to the gym after office hours. I also missed Run United 1 last week because we’re in Palawan, so I was excited to register for this race when I returned last Monday. But I learned that registration were already closed in Mizuno stores, but seems that I was meant to run for this race because Mizuno Philippines gave me a race kit!

It’s my first time to join a race that starts at the CCP Complex, Jeff, who was recovering from a trail run last Saturday, drove me to the venue. We went there early to look for a parking space and also to claim my race kit.
