Biscoff Spread, finally!

The cookie butter craze started late last year, I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of Biscoff vs. Trader Joes Speculoos Cookie Butter showdown on Instagram. I heard someone said, it’s like peanut butter. So I thought, I’ll just make do with my peanut butter instead. Okay…another reason is that ALL cookie butter sellers don’t have on-hand stocks anymore. One seller has a waiting list until July, yeah, that long!

What is Biscoff?

Biscoff Spread is a sweet, creamy spread made with Biscoff Cookies (57%). It is a delicious European alternative to peanut butter or chocolate spread. It is excellent on toast, in a sandwich with jam or even on apples.

When I chanced upon Cookie Butter Philippines on IG announcing that she has 1 jar of Biscoff left for Php 480, I immediately reserved and paid for it first thing in the morning. Hoooray! I’ll be having my first jar of Biscoff cookie butter!

So it arrived…

Biscoff Spread in Creamy

I got the Creamy variant. Upon opening, it did looks like peanut butter.

peanut butter but better

I immediately got a whiff of cinnamon upon opening. Uh-oh and I dislike cinnamon. Still being curious about its taste, I just tasted a small amount on a spoon. Nothing amazed me, really. I didn’t get the craze on why people would go as far as waiting for 2 months just to have a jar of Biscoff.

When I arrived home, I immediately spread a generous amount of Biscoff on a bread, and I loved it. The cinnamon flavor must have started to grow on me and all I can taste is the sweetness of the spread. I tried it with bananas too!

Biscoff and bananas make a great pair!

Aside from putting it on breads and bananas, I just discovered that it’s so addicting eating it straight from the jar, heaping spoonfuls straight to my mouth =).

I can say that Biscoff spread is your peanut-butter-but-better kind of spread. But I would not go as far as hoarding jars of it. It’s a nice treat once in a while, but if you haven’t tasted this, you’re really not missing out on something big.

For the curious, you can buy Biscoff at https://www.facebook.com/CookieButterPhilippines/ or search cookiebutter_philippines on Instagram.

  6. I’ve only tried the cookie butter spread on GoNuts’ Cookie Butter Donuts, but I’m not sure what brand they used. I like how it has warm and earthy spices, but I’m very interested to try both the Trader Joe’s Speculoos and this Biscoff spread 🙂 I’m curious to know din which is better.

It’s nut free sis, quoting from the packaging, “It’s Europe’s alternative to peanut butter”. It’s made of crushed cookies.

  10. The price of this and Speculoos are both steep but I think, I deserve to buy at least once. I have yet to try these. I just tried a Speculoos-flavored gelato and I liked that immediately so how much more the real thing. =)
